Love From Above

Romans 8:35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Romans 8:37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  Romans 8:38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Romans 8:39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Love In Calamity

Romans 8:35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?... Nay

We are in a world riddled with chaos, and catastrophe. In times like these we could lose our grip on anything rock solid. Anxiety looms and we are frightened by what great change will affect our lives next. This world is in desperate need for someone who could help us, and hold us together. I believe that someone is God. Paul writes in the above passage and lists very frightening words, tribulation, distress, persecution, and the list goes on. However, the point of the verse is not to put you in distress but to bring us to realization that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. So, in the midst of looming crisis, there is a loving Christ!

This Lover Creates Conquerors

Romans 8:37  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

How many times has God rescued you from the clutches of evil? It was by His love He dealt with your heart to keep you from being out of the perfect will for your life. It was by His love we were rescued from a life of sin, and given the opportunity to live an overcoming life. It was His love that has made us, it was never us.

The Loved Is Convinced

Romans 8:38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Romans 8:39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In short the Apostle Paul says, "I am persuaded" that nothing can separate us from the love of God! Oh, that we are this convinced about the bond of love between us! For our minds will be set at ease, and our anxiety dissipated, by God's love.
